Individual Counseling


Individual counseling (sometimes called "therapy" or “psychotherapy”) is a process through which a client works one-on-one with a trained counselor to identify and achieve personal goals for desired aspects of their life they are seeking to change.  Redwood Counseling offers a safe, caring, and confidential environment in which you may determine, explore, pursue and attain your goals for personal change.

Mental Health Counseling
People seek mental health counseling for a wide variety of reasons, including coping with major life challenges or childhood trauma, dealing with depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, or simply desiring increasing insight and self-knowledge. Individual counseling services are available at Redwood Counseling  to help you in developing insight and finding satisfying resolution to your needs and concerns.  Ages served include Adults and Elders (65+).

Fees for Services

Mental Health Counseling

​Mental Health individual counseling services are available using either a self-pay rate or through insurance that covers behavioral health services. Self-pay rates are:

  • Initial Assessment (first appointment): $130.00
  • Subsequent counseling sessions (55 minutes): $115.00
  • Subsequent counseling sessions (90 minutes): $145.00


Counselor Michael Perry is currently credentialed on the following insurance panels: Aetna, Anthem, Blue Cross and Blue Shield, Cigna, Humana, and United Healthcare/United Behavioral Health.  Please call for additional details. Cost for sessions covered by insurance are in accordance with Mr. Perry's provider contract with each individual insurance company. Co-pays and deductibles vary in accordance with each client's insurance plan type. 


If you have other behavioral health insurance coverage, mental health counseling services often qualify for reimbursement at an out-of-network or non-participating provider rate. Most health savings and flexible spending accounts can be used for mental health services, but always contact your health insurance provider or benefits manager prior to your first appointment to clarify reimbursement questions. Redwood Counseling can provide a 'Superbill' receipt that can be used to file for reimbursement. Please have your Insurance Policy Card or other specific benefits plan information available when you contact Redwood Counseling to schedule your first appointment so we may better assist you in determining available treatment payment options.
